A guitar pick is one of the guitarists greatest treasured tools, as it has great influence on tone, playability, and the wielders comfort and grip. Each guitar pick shape has its own unique advantages and disadvantages, and every guitarist also has their own unique personal needs and preferences, when it comes to ergonomics for comfort and grip, playstyle needs, or preferred tone. Due to the diversity of choice and personal preference, the best guitar pick shape is a subjective decision every guitarist needs to make on their own, as there is no one shape that is superior over the others. Experimentation is the only way a guitarist can truly find the perfect type of guitar pick shape, however due to the infinite variations in options, this journey in un-ending.

Below you can find all the information you need to know about NITRIDEDESIGN guitar pick shapes, so that you can make an objective decision on where to start your journey, or if you already know what type of shape suits you best, you can check out the options below to see which best aligns with your preferences.

Standard

A type of teardrop shape, which differs by having a wider curved tip, and a flatter top edge. Designed for versatility with equal focus on precision picking, and heavy strumming.

Teardrop

Shaped like a teardrop, this guitar pick is sharp and has a narrow tip, providing precision for single string performance, and a sharper attack resulting in higher clarity and a higher treble tone.

Jazz

Having a sharp tip, and being small in size, Jazz guitar picks are designed to provide speed, precision and improved control. With a wide shape, these picks can also perform well with strumming applications as well.

Triangle

The largest of guitar picks, this design is superior for strumming application, and an unbreakable grip. With a large surface area on strings, this pick design Provides a balanced mid tone, and enhanced power.

ABOUT GUITAR PICK BEVELS

PURPOSE FOR GUITAR PICK BEVELS

A guitar picks bevel holds great importance, as it is influential to how a guitar pick interacts with the strings. Guitar picks with larger bevelled angles require a minimal change in their rotational position to achieve a desired angle of attack when interacting with strings, whereas guitar picks with smaller bevelled angles require greater change in their rotational position to achieve the same relative angle of attack when interacting.

EXAMPLE OF BEVEL IMPACT ON ANGLE OF ATTACK

Dependent on a guitarists playstyle, both bevel types have their own unique pros, and cons. Performers who prefer a more rigid fixed wrist position, will prefer larger bevel angles, whereas guitarists who prefer to use more wrist rotation in their performance will prefer smaller bevel angles.

GUITAR PICKS WITH NO BEVEL

Under certain circumstances, guitar picks will have no bevel. These circumstances correlate with the combination of a guitar picks thickness and material, as the guitar pick will rely on flexibility in order to achieve the effects a bevelled edge provides.

BEVEL CURVATURE

NITRIDEDESIGN bevels include curvature within their designs in order to achieve superior performance. This curvature design is incorporated to improve a guitar picks angle of attack, through ensuring that its surface is majority of the time perpendicular to the strings, in order to minimize string resistance and scratching.

This design was achieved through analysing the different ways a guitar pick makes contact with the strings, during different scenarios within performance, (e.g during different strumming techniques, precision picking, etc).

This curve is also minimal in order to balance out its effects on other rotational axis's, in order to ensure maximum pick surface to string contact is maintained, to maintain impact, power and reduce scratching.

BEVEL OPTIONS

NITRIDEDESIGN offers the following bevel options for each guitar pick shape shown below. Bevels are proportional to a picks length, meaning picks with different thicknesses have different bevel angles. This is
